Job Description

African Unicorn is looking for a dynamic UI/UX Designer who will be responsible for user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of various digital assets. You will be joining a software development studio running a design led development. A lot of the work will be focusing on designing UI & UX for websites, mobile apps and customer and admin facing dashboards. You will ensure that all elements of the online user experience are optimized for improved usability, usefulness, and exceptional visual design. Gathering user requirements, designing, graphic elements and building navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools.

Duties & Responsibilities

Gathering product requirements
Producing high-quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps and prototypes
Creating interactive prototypes for product demos
Developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand
Pitching creative concepts
Producing logos, banners and interfaces
Collaborating with the team to launch projects
Using graphic techniques to create drafts and models
Using feedback from other designers to improve
Investigating user experience design requirements for our suite of digital assets
Designing UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs and widgets for our digital assets
Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows and target links for landing pages

Qualifications & Experience

Design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Suite and other UI/UX design tools
Prototyping tools such as Moqups, Blasamiq, Invison, Sketch
Familiar with project management and collaboration tools such as Atlassian's: Jira, Confluence, Zoho's: zoho projects or Microsoft's: Teams
Keen focus and experience in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI)
Excellent visual design skills
Proficiency in graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools
Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
Knowledge of design techniques
Ability to work well within a team
Good time management skills
A talent for creativity and problem-solving
A keen eye for detail
Good methods of fleshing out customer needs and ways of doing things
A BSc in Design, Computer Science or relevant field would be good but let your work speak for itself
